Ascend Karnataka

A Global Infrastructure and Investment Conclave, 2025, hosted by GDPIO Bangalore Chapter in partnership with the Times Network, is a strategic platform advancing Karnataka’s trillion-dollar vision by uniting global industry leaders, Indian Diaspora and policymakers

Focus Sectors

Aerospace & Defence

Karnataka is a frontrunner in India's aerospace and defence sector, hosting over 65% of the country's aerospace-related SMEs and key defence PSUs. The state’s Aerospace and Defence Policy 2022–27 aims to attract over ₹60,000 crore in investments, offering incentives for manufacturing clusters, innovation, and testing facilities. With Bengaluru as the epicenter, the policy promotes PPPs, drone innovation, and indigenous technology development, propelling Karnataka as the aerospace capital of India.

The sector is seeing increased global collaboration opportunities, especially with the Karnataka government enabling defence corridors and private sector participation in R&D. Diaspora professionals with expertise in aerospace, avionics, and advanced manufacturing are being encouraged to engage with the ecosystem through joint ventures, technology licensing, and mentorship initiatives, bridging Indias growing demand with global best practices.

Food Processing and Agritech

The Karnataka Agriculture Policy 2023 and Agri Export Policy promote agri startups, food parks, and cold-chain infrastructure. Focused on tech integration and export-oriented growth, the state incentivizes value-added food processing and precision farming. Schemes for millet promotion and FPO strengthening align with Karnataka’s vision to be a leading agri-value hub.

Leveraging India's global millet leadership and Karnataka’s agricultural diversity, the state is facilitating traceability tech, blockchain in supply chains, and diaspora-led export platforms. International partners and NRIs in food innovation are being encouraged to establish processing units, introduce next-gen agri-tech, and shape sustainable supply chains for both domestic and export markets.

Clean & Renewable Energy and Agritech

The Karnataka Renewable Energy Policy 2022–27 aims to install 10 GW of new solar and wind capacity. Karnataka remains a top performer in renewable energy with favorable open access policies, battery storage incentives, and green hydrogen pilot projects. This policy encourages diaspora and global firms to invest in utility-scale and decentralized clean energy solutions.

Innovations in distributed energy generation, bioenergy, and smart grid integration are opening new investment avenues across urban and rural Karnataka. With diaspora-led clean-tech companies and ESG-focused investors increasingly exploring India, Karnataka is positioning itself as a destination for climate-first ventures, creating platforms for global alliances in carbon neutrality and energy equity.

AI, Mobility & IoT

Karnataka’s Artificial Intelligence Policy 2020 and Electric Vehicle & Energy Storage Policy 2017 (revised in 2021) accelerate AI integration in sectors like mobility, health, and urban governance. With Bengaluru housing India's top EV startups and AI research hubs, the state supports pilot zones, AI ethics frameworks, and smart mobility labs to build a globally competitive ecosystem.

Strategic government support for digital twins, connected vehicle platforms, and AI governance frameworks positions Karnataka at the cutting edge of smart tech development. Diaspora innovators and startups in the AI, robotics, and EV domains are encouraged to collaborate with state-led sandboxes and accelerators, turning Karnataka into a global lab for ethical, scalable tech solutions.

Electronic System & Semiconductor

Under the Karnataka Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) Policy 2023–28, the state promotes chip manufacturing, electronics clusters, and talent development. With the upcoming Semiconductor Fab in Mysuru and electronics parks in Kolar and Hubballi, Karnataka is poised to be India’s silicon epicenter, attracting global investors with capital subsidies and R&D grants.

The state is fostering a full-stack ESDM ecosystem—from component design and embedded systems to semiconductor packaging and testing—with special support for R&D centers and academia-industry collaboration. Diaspora technologists, investors, and electronics majors are being offered structured entry points to support India’s ambition to be self-reliant in chips, IoT hardware, and telecom infrastructure.

Global Capability Centres and Smart Cities

Bengaluru is home to over 40% of India’s Global Capability Centres (GCCs). Karnataka supports this momentum with the Beyond Bengaluru initiative and smart city investments in cities like Hubballi, Mangaluru, and Mysuru. Government-backed tech parks, digital governance platforms, and ease-of-business reforms are transforming the urban landscape into globally competitive innovation corridors.

With GCCs evolving into hubs for innovation, IP creation, and high-skill R&D, the government is incentivizing integrated work-live-play ecosystems and ESG-compliant campuses. Diaspora leaders in enterprise tech, urban design, and digital services are being invited to co-develop smart city models and lead India’s rise as a hub for global operational excellence.

Innovation, Investment & Startup

Karnataka leads India's innovation index, home to over 13,000 startups and India's first startup state policy. The Karnataka Startup Policy 2022–27 fosters innovation with funding support, incubation centers, and global market access. New schemes under this policy focus on deep-tech, women-led startups, and diaspora participation, reinforcing Bengaluru’s global reputation as a startup and investment magnet.

The state's innovation thrust is complemented by the Beyond Bengaluru initiative, which is decentralizing startup growth into emerging hubs like Mysuru, Hubballi, and Mangaluru. With dedicated diaspora connect programs, Karnataka invites global investors and mentors to contribute to high-growth areas like AI, robotics, climate tech, and fintech, accelerating the state’s ambition to become Asia’s premier innovation corridor.

Real Estate and Construction technolgies

With rapid urbanization and infrastructure growth, Karnataka’s real estate sector is backed by the Affordable Housing Policy and Urban Development Plan (Master Plan 2041). The state offers incentives for green buildings, vertical housing, and transit-oriented development. The push for smart city projects and Bengaluru’s growing metro network continue to boost demand for construction innovation and sustainable urban planning.

Technology integration in construction—ranging from AI-powered design tools to prefabrication and modular solutions—is gaining traction, with the government promoting public-private partnerships in large-scale housing and commercial developments. Diaspora investors and urban infrastructure professionals are being welcomed to partner in mega real estate and smart city projects, bringing global sustainability and efficiency standards to Indian cities.

Tourism & Hospitality

Karnataka's Tourism Policy 2020–26 supports heritage, eco, and adventure tourism, offering capital subsidies and single-window clearances to investors. With Hampi, Coorg, and coastal Karnataka emerging as global attractions, the policy also empowers homestays, luxury resorts, and digital tourism platforms. Karnataka is targeting over ₹5,000 crore in tourism investment, making it an emerging hospitality powerhouse.

A renewed focus on experiential tourism, backed by digital storytelling, AR/VR applications, and diaspora-led promotion campaigns, is reshaping Karnataka’s global travel brand. The state is inviting tourism entrepreneurs, hospitality chains, and diaspora marketing experts to co-create global-standard travel circuits, luxury retreats, and immersive rural tourism hubs, anchored on sustainability and cultural richness.
